The impact of packaging

Like any other type of packaging, plastic packaging has an impact on the environment. At SFA Packaging, we’re very aware of this fact. That’s why we have been working on a long-term sustainable packaging solution for many years. For example, we work exclusively with 100% recyclable plastic and use as little material as possible when designing packaging. We are constantly working to reduce our carbon footprint.

Countering food waste

Food waste causes enormous CO2 emissions every year. Reducing food waste is, therefore, one of the most important ways to reduce CO2 emissions – alongside switching to wind and solar power. That’s why SFA Packaging designs and produces food-safe, thin and lightweight packaging, in which products have a long shelf life. This way, we not only use much less plastic but we also reduce food waste.

Making sustainability work together

SFA Packaging is working with Wageningen University & Research/Food & Biobased Research (WUR), Knowledge Institute for Sustainable Packaging (KIDV) and Biopolymer Application Center (BAC), among others, on developing of bio-based injection moulded packaging.
