A European Bubble Tea producer approached SFA Italia Srl, the Italian subsidiary of SFA Packaging, in search of a reliable partner in rigid food packaging. Until then, their beverages were sold in 2- and 3-liter buckets. The customer needed a striking single-use format, specially designed for Bubble Tea and suited for new distribution channels. The packaging had to be practical for on-the-go consumption and stand out on the shelf.
From the first meeting, our team at SFA worked closely with the customer to turn their vision to life. Within just three months, the project evolved from initial sketches to full-scale industrial production.
We began with a series of concept drawings that helped the customer define dimensions and explore design possibilities. These concepts were refined until we reached the final design, followed by 3D-printed mockups that gave the customer a clear impression of the shape and ergonomics. After approval, injection molds and automation for the IML (In-Mold Labelling) process were developed, leading to industrial production.
The main challenge was to create a tailor-made solution compatible with our injection molding and IML technology. This was a departure from the industry standard, which largely relies on thermoformed cups. By using injection molding we delivered a solution that not only met all functional requirements, but also allowed greater design freedom and stronger brand visibility.
