Unique and eye-catching packaging

We completed an innovative packaging project for Tasty Foods. This project focused on developing a new nearly square jar, also known as the cirkant series. The packaging meets specific customer needs, has a unique and eye-catching appearance and offers benefits for both transportation and ease of use. Below you can read how we tackled this project and arrived at a successful solution.

Customer challenge

Tasty Foods had a problem with their existing packaging. This packaging with a top seal and a lid on top did not meet their requirements. Customers complained that the tray often fell out of the lid when picked up. This led to damaged products and dissatisfied end-users. We were approached to solve this problem. We then looked at possible solutions and decided to use the 250ml cirkant cup, a sturdy and reliable packaging.

Development of the circlet cup

The cirkant cup is an almost square jar with a well-fitting lid. It has two straight sides and two slightly curved sides. This unique shape offers advantages in transport and is an eye-catching presentation in shop. The shape also ensures that the jars fit neatly side by side without taking up unnecessary space. In addition, the lid snaps securely into place, solving Tasty Food's problem. Thus, the foil is optimally protected and acts as a storage lid after opening. This ensures products stay fresh for longer after opening. The cirkant cup thus solves the customer's packaging problem and prevents food waste.

Technical expertise and innovation

At SFA Packaging, the focus is on technical expertise and innovation. For the cirkant cup, we improved the design even further. A key component is de-nesting the packaging. This means that the stacked cups separate easily from each other. We added small lugs in the corners of the cirkant cup. This makes these almost invisible. These ridges ensure that the cups do not stick together. This allows them to be processed quickly and efficiently on the production line. This technical adaptation gives a nicer design and improves production.

Sustainability and IML technology

The new cirkant cup and lid are made of mono-material and are 100% recyclable. For an even more beautiful presentation, we use In-Mold Labelling (IML) technology. This means that the label is merged with the packaging during the production process. This ensures seamless integration and high scratch resistance. The result is durable and visually appealing packaging that is also functional.
